Coherent, a leader in industrial lasers for materials processing, has announced the launch of a new industrial ultraviolet (UV) femtosecond laser, Monaco, with an output power of 50 W, ideal for high-speed, high-volume cutting of wafers and stacked OLED displays.
The rapid growth of applications such as wafer slotting for mobile and next-generation chips and precision cutting of display stacks has accelerated the demand for laser tools with higher output power that can process such materials at high speeds and with high precision.
The Monaco 345-25-50 is described as the first 50W 400 fs UV laser with industrial-grade performance for high-precision cutting and a perfect assembly fit.
The laser delivers pulses with energy up to 25 μJ, repetition rates up to 2 MHz in UV, and pulse widths below 400 fs. It includes all the standard features of the Monaco platform, including pulse on demand, variable pulse width tuning, variable repetition rates and flexible seeder burst mode.
Our Monaco 345-25-50 is the latest addition to our highly successful Monaco industrial laser platform and represents the smallest 50 W femtosecond laser on the market," said Allan Ashmead, senior vice president, Microelectronics and Instrumentation, Coherent North America. 50 W femtosecond laser. the Monaco product line is field-proven with over 800 systems installed in facilities around the world operating 24/7, 7 days a week, mass producing medical devices as well as OLED displays for leading consumer applications."
Following the recent introduction of the new high-power and high-energy Monaco 1035-150-150 IR laser, the Monaco 345-25-50 will further expand Coherent's line of Monaco IR and green lasers. The entire Monaco family can be used to dice a variety of wafer materials, including silicon carbide wafers, by direct ablation.
